Post: What if? (A possible bypass)

What if you update your game, then once updated, re-load your most recent backup with you hybrids on it. Would you still have them? Possibilities. (I cannot currently test this, so if someone is willing to be a kind guinea pig and test that that would be marvelous) Happy

Well I just tried this out, thinking it would work myself.

>Update

No bacon. All cars were reset. However it seems that the engine sounds still remain from the engine that was switched out.

I think that would normally work but i heard PD changed some stuff around and has your cars run through the game data (which is much harder to get to and edit) before the game fully loads and anything that isn't what it is suppose to be gets reset. Like they put the max hp and minimum, max ride height and minimum ride height and so on. So if it doesn't match that it gets reset :(

Unfortunately the engine sound is only heard by the user and not others in online lobbies ; [

Agreed! I had one in my Dodge Ram and loved just playing with the RPMs around 3000. Seriously sounds like a burping dragon. My other favorite engine sound that I put in my Enzo is the Honda Weider SuperGT car. It makes the Enzo sound like an FXX Enzo.

I cannot see how a bypass proxy would be useful in this case. First of all it needs to work on HTTPS (SSL encrypted) traffic, which not only runs on a different port as compared to the usual proxies. Second of all it needs to capture the packets sent from the Sony's server (a specific Sony IP address in numeric format not a DNS name) and somehow inject spoofed packets back declaring that you have 2.12 when you don't have it.

The proxy that was noted here a couple of times that was found from a Youtube video for another game I'm certain works only for normal HTTP traffic. That is to probably bypass the downloading of the updates because the updates are delivered through another network known as akaimaitechnologies. It is not downloading directly from Sony's network as I'm sure they do not have that much bandwidth let alone space for all their PS3 firmware updates as well as various games and their patches, etc. Not to mention that akamaitechnologies also gets mirrored by other networks which deals with load balancing/redundancies. Effectively speaking using proxy just bypasses those downloads if the IP address is set to ignore/filter/block. The proxy probably has nothing to do with how the game actually connects to the appropriate servers for the game and/or is setup for only a specific game.

Each various titles (and their various respective publishers) usually has their own network that when the gamer signs onto after signing onto PSN their PS3 must go through. For instance Ghost Recon 2 Advanced Warfighter and H.A.W.X. 2 goes through Ubisoft's network, Burnout paradise connects to some other network which is an affiliate of EA games and GT5 goes through PD's own IP address which belongs to Sony network.

Already some here have noted that swapping engines isn't audible to other players so I cannot see how going through proxies would help that either.

You basically need someone who can reverse engineer the encrypted traffic and inject spoofed (and resigned) packets.. good luck doing that without getting banned from PSN instead of from PD.

tl;dr: This is how I see it, I'm sure sooner or later someone may correct me. Its all a matter of time.
