I can understand removing chassis swaps as a whole, since most of them were ridiculous. There were only 1-2 realistic matches for each car, since the weight and aerodynamics were too intertwined with the chassis code. I can also see removing HPmulti, Grip, and weight mods, to a certain degree. As 1400HP+ cars do exist in real life, and drag tires can definitely change a 1/4 mile launch drastically. Side note: GT5's creator does not consider drag racing a motor sport. I say give the fans what they want. I have never signed in without seeing at least one drag only room.
But when I found out my engine/tranny swaps had reset, a small part of GT died to me. :n: I had checked each swap carefully to see that it can, and HAD been done in real life. I probably spent 10-15 hours researching to build some of my dream cars. Nissan 300Z with a Chevy '04 Z06 LS6 and it's tremac-6 speedFord Mustang GT Premium with a 4.6 stroked to 5.4 from a FORD GT '06The list goes on. They couldn't beat everything, but I loved each one individually.
It was something the GT5 programmers couldn't do, given their time frame and the ridiculous amount of cars in the game. Man of which are copies with different bodies. And MOST of which, I have NO interest in driving.
Also, why remove wing and ground effect deletes? It just adds dimension to what you could see on the road. No performance gain whatsoever. There should have been much more customization anyway.
You know who does offer engine swaps and more customization options? GT5's main competitor, FORZA on XBOX360.
I'm not suggesting anyone give up GT forever, but we need to let SONY know what we want as consumers. Or else every GT will be an update of the SAME game.

just to let you know this would have had nothing to do with sony more to do with the developers of gt5 as all sony would have done is air the submitted update by the devs of gt5...

Yes it more has to do with PD, i too am really disappointed in the stance taken by PD, im a fater of 3 and work two jobs and have little to no time for entertainment, and ever since i found out about hybrids it made me want to play GT5.

Just the act of building something unique gave me so much pride and joy, i wasnt one of the HP junkies, i made realistic swaps, engine gear box, and yes colour to some colourless cars. I think PD took the easy way out and in that hurting some really loyal customers.

PD why not sell DLC's then that can allow us to even do a fraction of what we were doing (DLC - tom's 3sgte for some toyotas etc.)

Untill further delevopments this is it for me and the GT series.

Regards,

VERY Disappointed customer

I haven't seen this posted here yet, but if you update to 2.12, does it at least let you keep the cars that you've won? Or does it just take away everything you used hacks to win? Example, I have a WHOLE lot of cars I won through tickets and winning the races. Will it let me keep those, or does it take them away?

Does it also reset your game credits? I'm at 20,000,000, but I didn't exactly win them legitimately. Will it reset that to nothing?

Just want to make sure before I update to 2.12. Hybrids aren't a huge deal to me but I would like to keep what I've won.

it's a shame that all i wanted was realistic engine swaps and stance in gt5, and finally got it. I'm gonna say what really caused alot of people to complain were all the kids and daft adults who kept building cars over 2khp. Had more modders kept it realistic, i doubt other people would have cared to complain to sony which in turn probably made PD do something about it. PD went the wrong way about it which could be due to obligations to certain manufacturers who don't want certain aspects of vehicles to be modified. but then again reading alot of the complaints about people saying that modding is cheating and blah blah. They act like if they were tricked by someone in a hacked car and they lost the race. Well guess what thumb-suckers, it happens in real life alot..... A WHOLE LOT. so if you can't take being had by someone who talked you into a race that you lost. You need channel your energy into an RPG or some other avenue, so you get the same exact sense of accomplishment, exactly the same way, over and over and over again. When you hit the real streets, actually build a real car, your naiive (sp?) traits will get you owned.

Anyway, the hacks/mods were finally giving me the ability to make Tokyo Extreme Racer on ps3 happen. If Gran Turismo 6 doesn't have engine swaps. I'll be purchasing the next forza and the next xbox. No need to buy GT6 if it won't have any additional features and will be another half cocked release like GT5. I don't know how Kaz claims to be into cars since his youth when he first saw an MKIII supra.....a car that if it has a 7mgte engine, 9 times out of 10 would've blown it's headgasket and would've been rebuilt, but more commonly swapped for a 1JZ or 2JZ. Obviously if it was already equipped with the 1JZ like the jza70 models, that wouldn't apply. Now how does someone like a car that was commonly engine swapped, create a game with no engine swaps. :yuno:

^THIS!
easy way out: that's about it!

it could be nice to have a few words somewhere from PD so we can know what they think about all this.

I don't understand why people are so upset. It is true it is fun to edit games freely. But to cheat a simulator for online events is very upsetting to developers it has been this way since games went online when stuff gets out of hand developers change things. Then people get all mad because the developers do not want people cheating on their gameWinky Winky have fun out there...

Well juniperus, a lot of people are mad because they weren't modding to cheat and beat everybody. Sometimes we just like the sound of a car with a different engine, or the feel of a car with a different transmission. Hardly any of my mods were super fast. Let's say my favorite car is a Nissan 370z, but I like the power range from the older 350z. Well, even though it won't be as fast (20 less hp) if I swap the engine out, I may like the way it drives or sounds better. Plus the car is more special to me since it is something I created and, as far as I know, one of a kind. I could care less if its not stupid fast. i never did one online race with a mod car to make myself feel cool. I get why they removed all the crazy cars, but they could have just put a hard hp limit and stopped chassis swapping and grip modding.
