I started to put some real time into BF4 here some basic tips on tanks

First off we start with some ground rules for tanking.
Rule 1, Never over reach
Rule 2, Never use your main gun on ground troops
Rule 3, Protect your rear
Rule 4, Think ahead
Rule 5, Never go in alone
5 basic rules let me explain them because these are common mistakes.
Rule 1 is pretty simple never overreach a tank may be powerful but it pretty soft. All it takes is one or two hits from the side with a massive group around your death.
If a flag has just been taken and nobody from your team is near by don't go in.
Rule 2 due to the very long reload times on the main gun, it's best to avoid using your main cannon on people rather use that LMG. It pretty deadly against people my fav version is the heavy lmg mainly due to it's great damage over range.
Rule 3 the rear of your tank once hit is a 50 damage spot yep half your health. Always try to protect it move your tank around if somebody is near your rear let them hit the front does far less damage.
Rule 4 Ahead is that area clear? is my team near me? Worth fighting or leaving the area? think ahead before you move take note of exit spots.
Rule 5 move with your team it makes it harder to take you down if you have a couple people firing bullets at engineers.
