But the cycle would keep repeating itself and I closed out of minecraft and the same thing happened again. Anyone know a way to fix this problem?

I would try redownloading the update. Doesnt seem to be a fw issue. Try to download a good working update pkg on the pc instead and install via usb. Doing that and keeping a copy on your comp is a breeze when changing CFW or formatting. If other pkg installs fail alot or it just doesnt work for that one ever, you might then want to try and see if it IS you fw causing the problems.
