In past versions of GT the grip / rolling resistance relation was quite noticeable. I don't think it has the same effect in the physics engine of GT6. I could be wrong as I have not tested it.
While testing CD and drag I build some extremely unrealistic cars in terms of grip and HP. Air resistance has changed and CD values of cars are not as correct as they used to be due to the new system. Drag is definitely exponential as each body type will hit a point where no matter what amount of HP and grip you throw at it there comes a point that the tires will just spin rather than overcome the drag.
My point of mentioning the CD tests is even with that ridiculous amount of grip there was no noticeable rolling resistance change.
