The recent Xbox One GPU performance increase has had a good impact on Destiny, the upcoming first-person shooter form Bungie, as the studio has confirmed that it will have a native resolution of 1080p and a framerate of 30fps on Microsoft's console.

Destiny is one of the most ambitious games set to appear this fall, and Bungie has been working hard to ensure that the new multiplayer-only first-person shooter works well on all consoles, in the form of the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

After hearing from Microsoft's Phil Spencer that the recent Xbox One devkit firmware update has unlocked more GPU performance for developers to use, Bungie has confirmed that it's used this extra power to increase the native resolution of Destiny to 1080p.

This full HD resolution will be coupled with a 30fps framerate, according to a tweet from journalist Geoff Keighley, who talked with Bungie.

It's unclear how Destiny will run on the PS4, as Bungie is still mum on that subject.

Whether or not Destiny on the PS4 will hit 1080p/60FPS is still unknown.

This is great news. It's showing that the extra 10% or so GPU can help in any way possible. Note that not all devs are going to use the extra GPU for resolution though. Some, such as Sunset Overdrive, will not and use it for "a more vibrant and alive gameplay space."

I think about games like Sunset Overdrive, that’s going to take advantage of the June (SDK)… And they’re going to use the increased capability that lowering the reserve will have to actually make a more vibrant and alive gameplay space, so that’s where they’re going to invest.

So what are your thoughts? Does this excite you and give you more faith in the native 1080p resolution debate between the PS4 and Xbone? If you weren't going to get Destiny, will you be picking it up now that you know it will run at 1080p?

Didn't digital foundry do a test on destiny last year and it's 1080p 30fps locked.

No 30 FPS should be fine if it doesn't drop during high action scenes. 60 FPS would be perfect though, don't think the human eye tell the difference after that.

Be interesting to see how hard the Xone has to work compared to the PS4, and if there are any other differences with other games with the new sdk
