I’m too L33T
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I got to play some Grid Autosport recently. Although the two games are targeting a different audience I though I would share my first impressions of the game.

In Grid you take contracts as the driver of a race team and drive the team's car in a series of races. I don't know if you ever get to a point where you start owning and upgrading you own cars.

The AI in Grid is far better than GT6's AI. I know hard to believe but it's true. They actually race, not just spread out along the track as mobile chicanes but as actual competitive drivers, even against each other they are quite aggressive. If you try to use them as support around a turn they do not behave as if they are on rails that you ride against but rather get pushed out of the turn. Placing 8th is considered good by the game in the early races.

Online in Grid is a must, there dos not seem to be a way past logging onto PSN to play. Cancelling the log in just loops you back to the login and you must make an account with them in order to play. I was unable to even try the game without signing up first, I do not know what would happen if you did not have an internet connection.

Graphics are OK in both games, I prefer the GT6 graphics.

Damage, what GT6 lacks in damage Grid overcompensates for. Parts fall off cars way too easily in Grid. In one race the AI in front of me dropped a bumper in the first quarter of the first lap of 4. Since it was dropped right in front of me I could not avoid it and got a front left tire blow out. The game required me to complete almost 4 full laps with a flat tire, not my idea of fun.

Some of the driving assists are over the top in Grid, one of them will control your braking and throttle in turns. I did not try it but it was there. Traction control and ABS are simply on/off and not settable to a level. The game rewards you by increasing the XP gained when aids are turned off.

I do think the AI makes Grid almost worth playing but the online issues and the over exaggerated damage really hurt the game.

Anyone else try this game?

I couldn't if I wanted to, but Grid has always been fun, except the drifting parts where the car switched to drift physics I didn't like that

I'm more curious if offline is any good, cuz I'm only offline gaming.
