Were you hoping that your Beta characters would transfer to the final version of Destiny? Well, I will have to ruin that dream for you, because Bungie just announced that you can not carry your progress of the beta over to the final version. Which means you will have to start from scratch September 9.
The Destiny beta kicked off July 17 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 and July 23 for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Last month developer Bungie had not yet decided if the progress you made in the pre-release period would carry forward to the main game.
But yesterday Bungie decided that the beta progress would not carry over to the full game. "Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game," Bungie designer Tyson Green said on the developer's website. "The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst." On September 9th, when the Final Game is released, you can create a Guardian who will keep you company for a good, long time.
Destiny will be appearing on the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, Bungie asked on their site for which platform you would be getting the game. This is the result: the Playstation 4 is number one with 55,14%, followed by the Xbox on with 35,55%. For the old-gen platforms Destiny is more popular on the Xbox 360 with 11,2% and 6,98% will be getting it for the Playstation 3. On what platform are you getting the Beta? And are you sad that the progress won't be transferred over or do you think a fair start is the best option here? Let me know in the comments!
