I wonder what it will be for? Maybe a later mission? Or perhaps a raid/strike. I know there is already a Vex raid, and the next one is Crota (hive) but who knows. Maybe Bungie will release another one after awhile.

You can go through there. After you open the portal on Mars, summon your sparrow and ride it through. Speed past the enemies on the other side so they don't destroy your sparrow and its an easy ride through that "forcefield." Once you're done exploring the other side and decide to go back to the regular part of the map, it'll give you a nice launch too.
