You either gonna be addicted to it or only play it a couple times. In my case I bought it, played it a few days like crazy then havent touched it in months.
About the mac thing I do not know, sorry.

Since you'll be playing on Steam you'll be playing against other Steam users which includes PC and Mac OS X. Being good is subjective. I personally think Source was a better game. However, I don't say that to discredit Global Offensive. If it's your first Counter-Strike be prepared to get raped. There's a lot to learn and it takes a lot of time to get good unless you have previous CS experience or played other FPS titles competitively on PC. As for me, I personally wouldn't say that I hate the game nor that I like it. It's just one of those things where some days I have fun and others I do not.

Best game I have ever played imo. Takes skill unlike Call of Duty. You will need to learn spray patterns to help control recoil, learn smoke spots, call-outs, flashes, etc.

Once you get the basics its really fun and I wish you luck on your CS journey to silver 1 Winky Winky

You forgot the one of the most important things about Counter-Strike. Movement. If you can't move for shit, nor understand how moving about works and what it affects you're going to have a rough time lmao.

Tbh, I have not played many FPS PC games. So I would be slower in reactions, accuracy, movements etc. Maybe I should try a different game first
