Recently we had news from Bungie that update 2.2.0 for Destiny will release on April 12th. Starting tomorrow, there will be a series of Twitch streams that will showcase different parts of of what this update brings, but before all of that kicks off I’m already excited about it. Why? Because the hints about what’s to come are enough to get me speculating about what’s going to be improved and added, and it’s all of my favourite stuff about Destiny.
Firstly, there are new PVE Challenges. ow it later goes on to say that there will be a new Quest featuring the Blighted Chalice Strike, but I reckon the Prison Of Elders is getting a revamp. The image shown with the update clearly shows Prison Of Elders gear, but it’s the Taken variant of that gear. This will drastically effect the story of the universe in Destiny in general, but it does show that somehow we’ll be getting Taken gear from a harder mode of Prison Of Elders. Hopefully this will take the form of some kind of Taken holding dimension within the Prison, because these interdimensional being could obviously just teleport out if they wanted to, so something more that guards is needed.
The update talks about new and updated gear. Thankfully there will be new gear for us to acquire, but there will also be new gear for us to collect. I always love new gear because it could mean new Exotics, and everyone loves new Exotics! Alongside these is a higher Light level to achieve, which probably means that the Raids are getting updated, otherwise they won’t be the hardest challenge in the game. I do expect that the new Prison Of Elders variant will be one of the hardest challenges, and that’s great because it’s probably my favourite thing to do in Destiny, maybe we’ll get Taken weapons!
Finally, we’re going to be seeing an improved Sandbox, maybe the social spaces or just patrol areas in general, and improved PVP. The Crucible, as you’ll know if you follow my YouTube Channel, is my second favourite place to be in Destiny. New guns, better gear, maybe even new game modes and events, all of that is going to draw me right back to what has been my favourite MMO of all time so far. With The Division slowly taking that role, I really hope that Destiny 2.2.0 is enough to make me fall back in love with Destiny again.
