[h=1]What is the ranking system?[/h] We’ve chosen a ranking system that is easy and familiar to everyone to make it as simple as possible to determine your level in the ESEA scene. Remember that B- you got in Geometry? Let’s see if you can achieve the same on ESEA...or better.
The letter grade on your profile dictates your rank (Don’t worry, there’s no F). Don’t like your rank? Work harder and improve it over time. After playing a series of placement matches (3 matches to be placed), you will be placed into your initial rank -- A, B, C or D. Each rank has two additional subsets, the “+” and “-” (ex: A+, A, A-).
When you play a Pug on ESEA, you will earn points toward your rank based on each win or loss. Stringing together a series of wins will earn you a swift trip to up the next rank, but if you climb too quickly, you’ll find yourself losing points after facing far better players.
Each level of your rank until you reach Rank A+ will be determined by 100 points. For example, if you’re sitting pretty at Rank C+ with 80 points, working up to 100 points will get you to B-. Adversely, if you find yourself at 0 points with C -, two more consecutive losses will bring you down a rank and start you off at 80 points (D+ with 80 points). Teamwork, communication, and personal skill are the key components you need to reach Rank A+, or even the illustrious Rank S.
