You can just update to 3.55 CFW from there, install multiman afterwards to download games onto your ps3 if you want to play them

And yes, you can put patches on them and mod them

Will the drive accept the disc and just not read it? If so, you could just replace the daughter board of the bluray drive. Not hard to do by any means.

I think you can replace the disk drive, I did mine like that.

damn just bought a different one on 3.50 fw didnt know if it would work thanks for info though from this 3.50 fw do i need to update it to 3.55 fw or can i just install a cfw ?

You can just update to whatever 3.55 cfw you want. Make sure to qa flag

Search qa flag package. Make sure you install it after your on 3.55 cfw. Make sure you read and read again before you jump into it. A lot of people have bricked their console just jumping into it without any knowledge. If your not sure of something. Do a search. If you cannot find an answer feel free to ask.

i just installed rogero 3.55 cfw 3.7 and i chekced the cfw it was on and it said 4.25 did i mess something up? please help
