Thanks LightningModz, for your suggestions. The ps3 automatically goes to rebuild file system when I turn off console by cutting off power. Sometimes it goes to repair data base too. The console is a week old and fan is quiet and smooth running. The screen I get, besides black, reminds me of early GT5 when we'd do those $$$ glitches by doing donuts over start/finish lines. Remember, driving under the course to get to start/finish? I took a pic with my phone, just don't know how to display it to you. I would return the slim for another only, those are hard to come by now. It only fails @ SILVERSTONE. No need to reply. Thanks for trying....

If it's a new slim console and barely a few weeks old I highly doubt it's the console. A few things to figure out. 1. Does it freeze ever playing any other kind of game? 2. Is the copy of GT6 you have the disc copy or the digital download? I had the disc copy but couldn't seem to play 3 tracks because it would freeze, the console would start making a lot of noise (the blu ray drive trying to read the disc) then freeze or black screen. I returned it and bought the digital copy, never had issues on that. 3. The hard drive, you say you stuck your old hard drive into the new ps3.. if you're by chance using a digital copy of the game.. try uninstalling and reinstalling the game or take that hard drive and reformat it (fully) using a computer, then let the ps3 itself format it. It could have bad sectors on it and the game didn't install the track properly so when it tries to read that data it freezes up or just black screens and fails.
