Do a barrel roll!
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so today I was analyzing the Blu ray drive on my PS3 because it has a weak pulling mechanism. Just to let you know the PS3 is a backwards compatible 60GB model, CECHC02. Anyway I managed to fix the problem so I then proceeded to put the cover back once I saw it working all good. After screwing everything together, I turned the console on. What I saw was a light which went YELLOW, then Green straight away and then it booted up. It was very weird cause I thought it got YLOD but it didn't show a blinking red light. Anyway after that the Blu ray drive was completely dead, it didn't even pull anything in, no blue light. I then got a spare drive I had sitting around, I didn't bother changing the control board at that point, I just hooked it up after I unscrewed the PS3 again. It worked fine so I suspected maybe the original drive was fried. Anyway I swapped the control boards over and the same thing happened on the new drive, NOTHING. It was dead as a mouse with a difference Blu ray drive. I also have to note and this is probably 90% the problem: The control board is missing a capacitor which I have to solder back on. Just note the console Blu ray worked perfect without it. The capacitor was knocked off by the previous owner when he screwed around with the Blu ray drive before I had it or it was damaged in shipping because there was no protection what so ever and he sent the console to me without the top on the PS3 and the Blu ray in pieces. Only reason I didn't complain was because I bought the whole lot for $20 which came with around 10 games.

My question is why is the Blu ray completely dead? Shouldn't it still have power or at least show a Blue light as an indicator. Any answers or help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
