(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hello,

I fixed my friend's (fat) ps3 a few weeks ago with the ylod oven fix. Now I have a Slim model with YLOD and I tried first the hairdryer method (since im lazy). Well that dint work so I tried the oven method and it dint work also? I did 220C for 10 minutes (and yes I pre-heated). What are the options for me to do?

Do a barrel roll!
You probably ruined the motherboard from carelessness by doing the hairdryer and oven trick.
Maybe a reball will fix it.

Don't do the oven method, it's very dangerous Smile. Just replace the thermal.

Did you apply electronic flux before either method? I have never had any issues after I started using flux. I've never done the oven method I use a heat gun. Try the flux and get back to me. Its only a couple dollars at a repair shop, and grab thermal paste while your there.

The YLOD means a bad solder somewhere. You probably should have inspected the board before stuffing with it.

like has been said already, its possible you are not getting a good contact between the chips and the heatsink, make sure they are seated correctly and if you used too much paste if will cause the same symptoms. use a very thin layer of thermal pase. check the pattern of squeeze in the paste when you take it apart again to see if you did have the heatsink touching correctly. if that fails try to bake again, there have been 1 or 2 that i have fixed that required another bake, but thats very rare considering.

I actually recommend using a Heatgun and flux foil method, just using the hair dryer and spraying everywhere would probably damage other parts components of the console, Or reball if not working id rather get a new motherboard online.
