You can with any hotspot so long as there isn't any blocking. But yes I'm sure it takes a lot of data.
depends, atm i'm living in a remote area that has no lan lines and can't get sataite or service without a booster, so have to use a booster and mobile with an data plan that runs out within a few weeks but if you are getting at least 2GB a month from your provider then you can play online using little data so long as your playing a game such as cod4, you are not the host, and all your games are local and most importantly you have no one on your friends list and you don't sync trophies much etc, i can play only while over my data limit fine on the old call of dutys as long as i use an account with a small friends list and don't try to play gta or anything like that with people, but when i go over it drops down to 3.5 - 50kbps avg 10kbps so you can see my issue there, but thats cause i live in a remote area with mountains all around my house with a lot of trees, you shouldn't have this issue, just getting a router is a lot cheaper and a lot faster. IDK how old you are but if your old enough to work and can afford internet router and the monthly cost buy it, because if you wanna play online with a prepaid or most mobile providers you're looking at losing your data quite fast as your probably doing more then i use it for. like i avg only 80mb's a night playing all night on black ops 1 so yeah.
