It's honestly not that hard. Literally one screw and the HDD caddy comes out. Just make sure the drive you buy is 2.5" 5400RPM and no taller than 9.5mm If you'd like to save your data I''d suggest watching this tutorial.

1. install new hdd into the ps3
2. Boot ps3 into recovery mode
3. Select option "restore ps3 system"
This will wipe everything, games, saves, accounts, etc
When it is finished you will be brought to a black screen, asking for your last syscall(last cfw installed)
4. Reinstall your cfw

Done!
