(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi I'm posting this as fed up of trying to sort this issue out, so thought I'd check with u guys if I should just buy a new console ,a little while ago my P's3 started overheating, when the fan kicks in loud then came freezes ,I tried new thermal paste but it was cheap stuff and wasn't the best, the console still got hot but the fan didn't kick in loud. So j thought maybe the CPU chip is just burnt out,when I was playing it the game froze and i noticed the standby light when yellow,but I don't think it was the YLOD as I still turns back on,it just goes yellow after a while of playing,so I tried re applying better thermal paste (article silver 5) also when doing this I drilled loads of holes at the bottom and one big one on top above the fan, and put on one of those fan stands. I ran the console on xmb for like 8 hours then another 8 hours to "cure" the thermal paste (some say you need to some dont) budid it anyways and the temp didn't rise at all so I thought was all fine. Started playing gta 5 yesterday as normal it was very laggy, not sure if this is a hdd problem or my broadband is shite problem. Then it froze after about 10 -15 mind of game play. And I noticed the light is yellow again. So now I'm thinking is it, ylod on the way, is it burnt out CPU or rsx chips, dodgy hdd.... It's doing my head in lol I'm tempted to buy a new P's3 but don't want to ha e tl just buy new ones if the problem could be fixed, the P's3 is jail broken, running rebud dex 4.80,and is a P's3 slim, Ive tried including everything here hence the life story. Mate it sounds to me like you have almost done everything you can do ......i have had dodgy hddos cause high temps ...buut i lean more towards a cpu problem you have there its not rsx or your screen would be going crazy ...personal opinion ..you may need another 1 ..
