Wow thanks Dro. But what about the fan control. Once I reflow it can't I speed up the fan to keep it cool
It is worth a try, right?
Just don't get your hopes up. Once a console hits ylod, that's it. Damages are done. It will take a real repair to fix it properly. A reflow could last a day, a month, a year or more, you never really know. A reball will be very difficult to do or have done, and will also most likely cost you more than the ps3 is worth..
If you decide to get another, one of the best things you can do for your ps3 is to create a routine (every year?every few months?) where you take apart your ps3, down to the motherboard, and clean and renew the thermal paste on both the CPU and GPU. I'm sure you can find all kinds of other ways to keep the console cool, but cleaning your console and changing the thermal paste is one of the most important..
