You need to retrieve ACT.DAT and RIF files from your old HDD.
Put them in your new HDD.

File is located at :
    dev_hdd0/home/00000001/exdata/act.dat

Hi All,

Did a search and ended up in this thread.

I have the same error code when trying to download content I have purchased from the PSN. I upgraded my HDD and got the error when trying to download (free content is ok though).

I put in my old HDD back in and used Filezilla to get the files act.dat and .rif files but I have no act.dat.

The only .dat file I have is PS3LOGO.dat.

I have read of other methods but cant find anything solid.

1 was to reformat the HDD (I CBF I have about 200 gig of data on there)

another was to rebuild the database (I dont think this will help in my situation, I feel that the PSN thinks I am a different user)

The most promising one was to delete my username from the PS3, then, restore it via the PS3. Has anyone used this method? I am on Kmeaw 3.55 and using f**PSN0.4

Thanks in advance

Ok for those looking for a solution this is what I did and it was very easy and was just done by recovering your PSN account through the PS3.

I am on Kmeaw 3.55 if that helps.

What you will need:
CFW:
Have F**PSN or another method to connect.

OFW:
Nothing

This is ALL done via the PS3, however with backing up save games theoretically should be able to copy and restore these with filezilla or similar.

Step 1: Backup your save data with an external drive (note, some may have copy protection and cant be copied).

Step 2: Delete the PSN account that has the error

Step 3: Create a new user

Step 4: Go to Sign up for PSN account

Step 5: Restore existing PSN account

Step 6: Follow the standard prompts

Done.

Now I can download all of my purchased content again.

Note: I did deactivate my PS3 through the account management section on the XMB first but you may not need to.

There are other tutorials that tell you to format your HDD or quick format, its not needed. Well not for me anyway and it took only 5 minutes.

Please don't bump 3 year old threads, I'm in no way saying it's not allowed but there is no point.
