(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I have a ps3 on firmware 3.50 right now and considering im new to the PS3 modding scene I would like to know what I could do with it.
Now I have heard I could Jailbreak it, that basically means I can download games and play them from the hard drive right?? I really am confused what my ps3 is capable of at the minute.
Also how much is my ps3 worth compared to a updated ps3?
How would I go about jailbreaking it as well?

Please help Smile

I thought that was un-jailbreakable.
Anyway what does jailbreaking do on a ps3 exactly?

Its just like the ipod but on a console you can play most games for free and can play emulators and more. Its like unlocking the full potential of the ps3.
Update to 3.55 OFW then install Rebug CFW or Kmeaw CFW the two best firmwares to date.

I know blu-ray games are big in file size but would it be possible to run them off the hdd?
Also is it possible my console will get banned, warranty going?

Update via USB to 3.55 OFW, then I would recommend installing your choice of CFW.

Custom Firmware (Jailbreak) allows you to install homebrew applications to your system. Some homebrew apps are just fun puzzle solving games, but there's a lot of homebrew created to help you hack. Comgenie's Awesome File Manager allows you to explore your harddrive and to copy/paste files throughout it. This is how people made challenge lobbies for MW2. Another great homebrew App is MultiMan, it allows you to back up game discs to either internal or external harddrive, and you can play them without the original game disc.

As for which CFW you choose, I would recommend Kmeaw. It's a great, simple to use firmware, and it's highly compatible. If you want a few more developer options, go for Rebug 3.55.1.

You cannot go online on 3.55 firmware, so what would you get banned from? And getting banned is very very rare :p.
As for the warranty, you can always re-install 3.55 OFW and your ps3 would have never been jailbroken, so to speak.
Just install 3.55 OFW (optional), you can download it from anywhere, just google it. Then go to You must login or register to view this content. to get rebug 3.55 custom firmware. You will be set.

Would either of you two like to help run me through it via Msn or hotmail? It would be a great help and I could give some V bux?

There's a TON of tutorials around here, just use the search bar Winky Winky

But yea, basically you're download the 3.55 OFW. On a USB stick, create a folder named "PS3". Inside that, create one called "UPDATE". Paste your 3.55 OFW in there, make sure it is named "PS3UPDAT.PUP" (yes UPDAT, not UPDATE). Plug your USB into your PS3. Go to Settings>System Update>Update via Storage Media. It should recognize the update, install it when prompted. Once you have 3.55 OFW firmware installed, just repeat the same process as above with your CFW.

Hope I helped
