I know this might be stupid question but don’t want to risk updating my 3.55 ps3. Also if it is it possible to merge to ps3 backups together i mean when you backup your ps3 it creates a file on your hard drive called PS3 and if you had another backup if you merged the files together will it you get your files form both ps3s on one again this might be a stupid question.

Nope as the FW is on the PS3 not the HDD and it will format the HDD

Yes You can put Your 3.60 Hdd to your 3.55 ps3, that won´t update your ps3 because the firmware it´s storaged on the Nand

He´s not asking to downgrade by wiping the hdd

so you double post because you can't search a min maybe you did , try the shoutbox second if no help then post one thread two just makes ppl want to flame you but yea keep your 3.55 ps3 on 3.55 you will regret updating

Even if you can, when you put a hard drive in another ps3 , it formats completely.
