so when i change the ps3 hard drive to a labtop hard drive, will the ps3 format it and read it

another 60 or 50 or even more dollars :{

um it fitts on the ps3 and it reads it but i think i have to format it but when i do i want to send it to my friend so he can put mw2 patches then he will send it back

my question is when i get it back do i have to format it ,,,if i do the mw2 patches will be deleted

no most likely you can't, because it is a different type of hard drive, unless its the same type, i don't think you can :/

unless it is the same size as the ps3 1 and if you format it with the ps3 if its the same size then it should work but not
sure. Look on ebay for a 40gb ps3 hard drive there dead cheap

i think u can use it, as long as it can fit or it's the same size as the original drive.

If you're planning on using it separately from your original hard-drive in terms of firmware, don't. HDDs don't have any bearing on firmware.

Ah gotcha. You're wanting to purchase a Sata 2.5 HDD, and give it to your buddy who has a CFW system so he can put a modified patch in on the patch_mp.ff, take out the HDD, and give it to you so you can put it in your PS3....I seen a thread on how to change HDD's without formatting. Let me find it, and link you to it. :y: I'll edit this post in a few minutes.

Lol you can't patch a HDD issue with a firmware update. Unless they fixed it for the new PS3's.

i guess you r right only for fat i guess
