hi i have an 80gb ps3 with the 4 usb ports. well issue is that my ps3 keeps getting YLOD evry time i do the whole processes with the motherboard.
now my question is if i switch out the motherboard or buy a better fan for the ps3 will it work and stop giving me YLOD or is the whole YLOD killing the ps3.
its a bitc* having to reassemble n assemble it everytime it gets YLOD....
I'm not sure dude. I bought a new PS3, but my old one got the YLOD 26 times in 6 months and I got fed up and smashed it haha.
really damm i really dont mind taking it apart maybe because ive done it only twice in 1 week but yeah i like it only to an extende i also took apart my xbox 360 slim just for fun lol anyways i wana fix my ps3 permanetly i cant afford a new ps3 system.
there is no real perma fix for ylod, but the heatgun trick is bullshit, it does more damage than good, and is just a quick fix for the idle, get some no cleaner liquid flux and a 15w soldering iron. the ylod is mainly broken solder connections from the gpu/cpu
to the motherboard. on the underside of the board apply the flux and touch each pin with the soldering iron, thats a reflow. or theres companys out there that will re-ball in an infa-red oven,
also be sure its ylod gpu/cpu side.
faulty hdd's and psu's can give the same symptoms
this might sound crazy but, i fixed my YLOD ps3 with a blow dryer...take it and blow it into the bottom of the ps3 with the fan blows air out for 15 min on the highest setting, then let it cool by blowing a fan into it...worked for me.
