(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); ok so this is what happened i downgraded successfully with the e3 flasher. then i updated to 3.55 ofw bc someone said you to to update to that then 4.00. well when it was updating to 3.55 it shut off now when i turn it on it turns green then flashes yellow then it flashes red.is there anyway to fix this? im pretty sure its not an overheating problem btw. Thank!

Edit: it does still eject the disc just fine, ive heard from some ppl that it wont eject, so hopefully thatll mean its less severe.

1 thing you can TRY is what i did get actic silver thermal compound and go into your ylod ps3 and to the heatsink and take rubbing alchahol and wipe down the squares all 4 of them take out the fan then on the two on the motherboard put a very small amount on each one about the size of the white part on your pinkie and then put thermal compound on them and put the heatsink bak on (the 1 with the brass looking bars) and then push it back on wiggle it around a little and take the heatsink back off and look at it it should be the size of a dime about and put heatsink back on and reassemble but dont break the friggin ribbon cable clamp or the little metal clips that go under where the power button is the 1 u touch like i did and c if that works u can pick up artic silver at best buy i think but try that out k

I personally down own an E3 flasher but I have heard you have to stay at the firmware provided by E3 or your ps3 may brick or get YLOD.

yea we dont have thermal paste around here or else i wouild have done had it fixed, im pretty sure its not supposed to touch anything other than the cpu and gpu heatsinks. Now if only toothe paste worked lol then u would gain two things. ur ps3 would work and then you would have a decent air freshner when its turned on lol

No you can update to the newest firmware, my friend got it wrong when he told me ( so now his 360 is in pieces, not broke but taken apart to the furthest extent and he dont know what goes where.) but he thot they said u have to update to 3.55 ofw then update to 4.00 or whatever and it was actually supposed to be DONT update to any other 3.55 fw period

To things could have occured:

1. Fried motherboard
2. GPU or CPU displaced (thermal paste ps3 comes with is sh*t

luckily for me, it was the thermal paste problem. I added new paste, works fine again. Too bad it will only last like a month.

yea i tried using artic silver thermal paste (turns out radioshack has some even tho online its says only available online) but it didnt work. maybe i put it on the wrong way idk, cuz there are many different ways to put it on apparently, i tried the one where you put alittle bit on there and then apply the heatsinks to mash it into about a nickel sized area covered so there would be no air bubbles, but with my ps3 i had to pull the heat sinks backoff so i could put them back in the bottom half of the casing cuz they r the big silver blocks that are a lil difficult to get out and then back in, that maybe the reason it didnt work, but it worked when i didnt apply new thermal paste for e3 setup. Can it even work just from applying new thermal paste alone? ive seen someone say thats all they did and their ps3 was fine.

if the motherboard fried wouldnt that keep the ps3 from turning on at all? when i turn the switch on there is the red light like normal then when i press power the green light comes on then quickly switches to yellow after 3 or 4 seconds then to flashing red with a few beeps. so the yellow light doesnt flash at all.

but how would you kno if it was the motherboard fried

-Ok well if thermal paste didnt work, then maybe the chips are out of place. you might need to use a heatgun to put them back into place. (this is only guessing because there is only a limited amount of things to do when YLOD)

-now when i say fried, i mean that the start-up process of the ps3 is messed up. in that case, you will need to solder NOR Tristate, to the SBE on the e3 softboard. this bypasses the start up process and allows you to restore previous BIOS. E3 has a little guide on thier site incase of brick.
