I mean, Keep 3.55 firmware on side and keep updating PS3 which doesn't effect that firmware so if you want to play backup you can just boot into 3.55 and play from there?

There is not a dual boot-able cfw at the moment.

I don't know what e3 flasher is but what i can see is that it is used to downgrade the firmwares? is that it?

Also that was a good idea if i could somehow swap HDD, is it possible to have CFW on one HDD and latest firmware on the other and then swapping can do the trick?

e3 is a a clip thing used to flash the nor/nand, in other words downgrade firmware, also i believe certain editions allow you to dual boot, and for your question of switching harddrives to change firmware will not work, the firmware is not stored on the harddrive, it is stored on the nor chip(nand chip on some models) which is on the mother board. so if you want to downgrade with e3 you have to strip your ps3 down to the mother board so you can clip it to that clip. hopefully this makes since, i tried to make it as clear as i could
