You can use any dongle. The e3 team recommend the e3 card reader. Have you already bought the e3 flasher??

You can use any dongle to downgrade. The E3 Card Reader is the best dongle because it can be used multiple times to downgrade and install different cfw's. Not only is it cheaper ($8 on ModChipCentral.com) but the fact that it also functions as an sd card reader is also a bonus. you can use it to install .pkg's as well.

Another thing, the way you say thngs, they don't make sense. You are aware that the E3 Flasher is a $90 Hardware modification for your PS3 and the E3 Card Reader is just a USB dongle right?
