make sure you have it in the usb in this order in these folders: PS3 ----> UPDATE ----> Then the file or else it wont recognize it

gabcauseican is right, it's PS3UPDAT.PUP, if you don't spell it like that the PS3 won't recognise it. Make sure that on your USB that there's a PS3 folder, then inside the PS3 folder there's a folder called UPDATE then put the PS3UPDAT.PUP file inside the UPDATE folder, all of the filenames are in all caps.
