I'm pretty sure the fat ps3 is Nor (could be wrong but, e3 supports both nor and nand now) from the information I've read, meaning you can downgrade

EDIT: Sorry, didn't read the question properly, you need to solder to do it

You can use the e3 flasher with your ps3 because it has a 16mb nor chip.

Wherever your purchasing your E3 from should have a checklist of solderless compatibility information. There are an even number of Nor & Nand consoles CECHA to CECHG = Nand - CECHH onward = Nor
