Yes if its the same model number which should mean the bluray drives are also the same but you will need
* a torque screwdriver or small flathead screwdriver (to open the screw under the warranty sticker which opens your console)
* philips screwdrivers to unscrew the the playstation console case & bluray metal casing
in short:
Unscrew the console screw under the warranty sticker on both & open the casing to expose the PS3s hardware
Unplug the white power cable connected to the bluray drive and the ribbon cable on the underside (its a snaplock, simply pull the black shutter down)
Once all the cables are detached unscrew the small black screws and remove metal bluray case
You should now be able to see the blurays control board attatched to the drive, you will need to detach it from the bluray drive by unscrewing the screws holding it in place and disconnecting any ribbon cables attatched to it
Keep note of everything u detach as youll need to reconnect them again.
IMPORTANT: You must keep the blurays control board with the console its paired with
Now u can swap the drives and reattach the bluray control boards to there new drives
Put everything back together.
The whole process is not as difficult as it might sound, 15-30 minute job if youve never done it before.
