Post: Bricked [//]

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I ended up bricking my old first gen ps3 trying to update it to 3.55 so I could use a CFW to play backups and now I need someones help to fix it. Now where my problem started is at the endless loop which I got stuck in because my blu ray drive is broken (why I wanted to play backups) which I didn't know about till after I got in the loop. Now that I was aware of a 3.55 BDB I thought all I had was update using that but first I had to get out of the endless loop by formatting the hdd using another ps3 which I read from a guide.

So following the guide I put the HDD in my dads ps3 formatted it and took it out. Put it in my ps3 and it was out of the endless loop but it now would go to a black screen then turn off. I then decided to try going into safe mode which worked. Trying all the options to restore the ps3 and nothing worked so I tried the last option which is to update via flash drive. Put my Flash drive in with the 3.55 BDB update via PS3>UPDATE>3.55updatewhatever

Now this is where i'm stuck, it never finds the the the update. If anyone can help me out here it would be greatly appreciated. Also sorry for the shit grammar.

So youve reformatted your HDD to get out of the firmware loop so you can access recovery. Right now itll be asking you to insert firmware xxxx or higher but it seems like you it just cant find it. Your not alone, its quite common. Truth is although it seems that way its now very much "the luck of the draw" people say it WILL read but the chances of that are something like 1 out of 20/30 attempts. Youd need to persist until your able to or maybe try shorting the PS3s internal battery which will require you to dissassemble your PS3, pull out the battery and short the pins. People have the same problems on PCs and they do it so that the systems' EEPROM is flashed so it will clear the CMOS. Doing this will sometimes allow your PS3 to startup like new. For more information heres a great article i found for you You must login or register to view this content.

Shorting those batteries using those guides is confusing. Tried it and nothing happened.

Do you know of any video tutorials for it? I tried searching youtube and google but couldn't find anything

Edit - I tried shorting the cmos pins with a paper clip but it didn't work. i'm sure its because I dont know what i'm doing. Ill just keep trying to get the ps3 to detect my flash drive for the rest of the day
