My question is what happens to all my data on ofw ps3? psn games, save data etc.( I can back up the save data but what about the psn games or dlc downloaded?) so if everything on ofw will be deleted. Can I data transfer ofw to cfw(cfw gets all data) then hack patch and data transfer cfw to ofw so I won't lose any data this way?

if you got straight from 3.55 to 4.2 then you will lose everything but you can transfer from 4.2 to 3.55...look up 9.99 spoofer, download and install to your 3.55 ps3 run it and you will be able to transfer from 4.2 to 3.55. some things will be deleted but im not sure what all is deleted. after you went 4.2 to 3.55, change your patches and go from 3.55 4.2 so you wont lose as much data

yes you have to transfer from ofw to cfw but u need to install a spoofer and enable it so your cfw doesnt update, but u will have 2 re-download all dlc as it needs 2 be re-activated so you may aswel delete it to make the process faster :/

Sorry with this is a dumb question but does that mean you lose all map packs permanently or can you redownload them afterwards?

Okay thanks, just wanted to make sure i wasn't going to lose my map packs since I've spent quite a bit of money on them.
