if it came stock with 3.55 or less then yes but if it came with 3.56 then no, but i dont think any ps3s came with 3.56. you will need an e3 flasher as there is no other way and again stock firmware 3.55 or less.

couldn't you use Teensy++? if he/she has a NOR-enabled ps3?

What type of PS3 do you have?
Also do you know what firmware it was originaly on?
