No u can't do anything without a functioning blueray but if your just trying to put patches on there is a tutorial somewhere on the site that shows you how to compile a patch into a pkg

How can a blu ray be the problem of a PKG installed on your CFW PS3 that doesn't use your Blu-Ray?

all u need to do is unstall your jb in (recovery mode im portant) and u should use kmeaw's 3.55 cfw and then install that and it should work
