oF[WaR;4672721']Not necessarily, its one of the following causes... bad PSU, the chipsets are not making full contact to the board, or they are overheating.
Overheating/contact is the cause 90% of the time. Take apart the PS3, and heat the whole motherboard to prevent it from cracking due to expansion. Then focus on both of the chipsets in a circular motion for 5-10 minutes (Using a heatgun)
You can use a hairdryer, its a temporary fix, I have done it with a hairdryer and fixed RLOD, but it eventually comes back. I recommend taking apart the PS3, cleaning off the thermal compound, "melt the chipsets" back to the board with a heat gun, then reapply new thermal solution. I've fixed 6 PS3's with the same problem, never got a complaint afterwards.
PM me if you need further help.
i will have a go and cant say thanks enough for your post bro might have saved me 3.55, i was gettin confused as to what the difference between RLOD and YLOD this is why i wasnt sure what to do anyway thanks again bro
