It is possible just install the 99.9 spoofer.
You have to install both pkg files ' 99.9 spoofer installer ' & ' 99.9 spoof uninstaller ' & this is what I had to do. Install the spoofer & then uninstall the spoofer but don't turn of console or anything and the data transfer wire must be in before you turn on the PS3. This should work perfect for you as it did for me. I had the same problem then I done this.

So if i install a spoofer on my 3.55. i can data transfer to my fw 4.21 ? and then data transfer to my 4.31 ?

Hi i just noticed my old ps3 is on OFW 4.25, is it still possible to data transfer usin the method you stated above?

Yeah but you install the 2 pkg files yeah then run the installer then the uninstaller then you can just data transfer from 3.55 to 4.31 but the data transfer cable must be in before your turn the ps3's on
