He said it was a 'new' ps3, and 3.40.
3.40, iirc, never existed. 4.30, on the other hand, does.
My guess is that it was a typo, and he has been given the wrong instructions.
Quite simply, we have been given too little information to help him properly, and in addition to that, this is in the wrong section.
