The only way to downgrade a console on FW > 3.56 is by flasher.

I hate E3 Flashers myself but you can try installing a kiosk firmware for *Install package files and it's available to on 4.30 & 4.31 sorry about that last reply

Well if you want to mod your game online with others, I recommend having two ps3's. One on the latest FW (Firmware). In order for you to mod, your ps3 needs to be on 3.55 fw, and to do that, you need an e3 flasher. Opening up your ps3 isn't very hard if you follow the directions and tut's on youtube. If that isn't what you want to do, then you are all out of luck.

Downgrading is not safe. Youre opening the ps3, take the stuffs out, and then you will do the magic. Your gurantee will fall if you do that.

All that would do is install retail pkgs. A kiosk FW is not for Homebrew :/
