I have been wanting to test this for a while. It may allow you to host on 4.31

So why do I think this will work?

People said in another post about how to host with a backup that you would need to have the same mac address as the person who you are trying to give the backup to.


I really want to test this but I don't have a 3.55 or my own ps3 right now


So here it is.


Step 1: Find a Friend with a 3.55.... Tell him to download Chaos air bringer...

step 2: tell him to change his mac address to the one on your ps3 (Don't Give it out to someone you don't trust)

Step 3: Get him to backup PS3 with a USB.

Step 4: After it is all backed up tell him to send you the Backup folder on Mediafire or Skype (any way to download it will work)

Step 5: Put the folder on to your usb and try the backup ...

If THIS works we will be able to host MW2 again on OFW...

I'll see if I can try it with my PS3s tonight.

You could try this with your own ps3's. Just take you original and use it on your cfw. I have one but I don't want to redownload all my stuff.

I don't know if the MAC address is the answer, but i think you're on the right track. I would think its the console ID (could be wrong). We can now retrieve console ID's from OFW as well. All the 3.55 owner would have to do is spoof his console ID to the OFW PS3 then backup his ps3 with the patch on. The question is, does the spoofed ID or the real ID get backed up? I do have 2 CFW PS3's. I'll test this out and get back to you on it. Regardless that they are both CFW PS3's, backing up and restoring functions like OFW.

I'm pretty sure Chaos Air Bringer just spoofs your MAC address. Also, what's stopping you from doing this without the same MAC? Is there something i'm missing?

you can not install the back up if it is not the same ps3 (as of now)

I think You can do the Back up if the person lives in the Same country as you

Wasn't able to attempt this tonight since I got the YLOD. Working on reflowing it next week and then purchasing another, more reliable 3.55, hopefully a slim but I'm fine with a PHAT. :p

I would totally try this right now if my brother and dad didn't update BOTH of my ps3's I'm too lazy to go through all that jailbreaking stuff again
