Post: 3.55 PS3 'Install Packages file' trouble

I recently bought a 3.55 PS3, when i received the PS3 and turned it on for the first time i noticed that the 'Install Package Files' and '/app_home/PS3_GAME/' folders were still there, both i couldn't open or delete. I get an error code when trying to open the app_home folder and there's nothing in the install packages folder.
I've tried putting on CFW yet nothing seems to happen when the update is complete, i have also tried going back to the 3.55 OFW and reformatting my PS3, again nothing seems to work.
I believe these two folders are somehow stopping me from using CFW, if anyone has any ideas or has experienced anything like this please help me out !

You do have a USB in the PS3 when trying to run it correct? And most games will not run correctly from app_home/ as there needs to be a game in the drive for it to more easily emulate the drive.
USB needs to be on the far right when trying to install .pkg files and they need to be on the root of the drive like this
my computer>USB>blackb0x.pkg as an example.
To play games, download multiman, install it, plug in your external hard drive and find the game you want to play, select it, and you will go back to the XMB. Pop in a disc and the PS3. If you put in COD BO1 but in MultiMan you selected Far Cry 3, then Far Cry will be the disc displayed regardless of what disc is in the system.

Then from Geohot's firmware, you're free to do whatever you like, such as installing ANY custom firmware from the XMB. Enjoy, and you're welcome.
