Mine does the same thing. It will shut down and the red light will blink. I then have to press it twice to turn in back on. Or it just all together freezes.

I would defiantly do what method1278 said, my old 80gb used to do that shit all the time until I took it apart and cleaned the bitch lol but I still had freezes here and there so I done a format and so far so good but it's my old ps3 we hardly use so if it does it again its getting kicked out of the family lol

It's a fault in your hardware you have corrupt the data on your ps3 that why its a flashing red light

Happened to me its nothing to do with YLOD
