If you have a NOR chip than the only way I'm aware of that you can downgrade to jailbreak is via E3 flasher.

but i have hear that e3 flasher fucks up ur ps3 and plus i really dont wanna spend money and i have herd people have done it @ version 4.31 and havent done a data transfer or anything soooooooo i just really want my ps3 jailbroken so i can host mw2 challenge lobies

I'm pretty sure those people are lying or you misunderstood. The only way to jailbreak as far as I'm aware is by downgrading your ps3 to fw 3.55. There isn't a free method yet. What you can do for mw2 is use the cfg infection as you wont need a jailbreak for that.
