What's the safest way to not get banned going on a cfw ps3 or am usage if I use homebrew offline and use Psn ninja??

I advise being on a lower firmware (3.55) and play older games such as mw2... and don't run any homebrew online. My friend hasn't have any problems from doing this method, and he has been on with his 3.55 for about 2 years now...
