(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); what's up nextgenupdate! I've got the green light black screen brick, i know this because I've had it before. The problem is i had it on kmeaw and fixing it the way i did before doesn't seem to work on a rogero firmware. So heres what i got...

PS3 cechc-02 60gb fat model, 4 usb slots, memcard readers ect

I was currently on rogero 4.30 v2.05 browsing through my xmb then bam! froze, restarted, bricked. I know its not the firmware, its that the system is corrupted.

this is what I've used to try and fix this problem:
Psgrade rockbox payload to enter FSM, lv2diag.self recovery file 1 on usb1 with rogero 4.30 v2.05 pup named PS3UPDAT.PUP, lv2diag.self recovery file 2 on usb2.

note that when trying to get into FSM with PSgrade rockbox that it doesn't shut the ps3 down automatically which means getting into FSM failed, am i right? Which means i can't do anything else from there.

Now i was wondering what i should do from here? Is it that regero does not recognize downgrade dongles? or would it just be my version of PSgrade? Is there another method i could use to get it up and running without hardware flashes? as i did do a nand back up anyway but don't have any hardware flashers :(

Any tips on how to? I'm using a solder and it's pretty much melting everything.

How thick is the plastic bit around the screw? What should i be seeing when it melts away?

Just make sure to apply pressure against it, don't be afraid to be a little rough seeing as to how there rly isn't anything under the first cover, so you shouldn't be too worried. What I did was go for the bottom of the screw and just push against it til it' snapped, like I said be a little rough but not drastically, then slide the cover off, and play with the little tab on the PS3 until it broke of. You know, tried to make it a little cleaner. lol

Thanks man, I kept pushing the solder in and around the screw while having a small flat head prying the top off till it popped.

Now to test this 4 penny trick

Glad I could help! Just clean everything up, and the top should slide on and off like normal, no real use for that screw anyway's lol

Thanks bro, tried it but the 4 penny trick did not work for me unfortunately :( followed all steps exactly and still GLOD.

I don't think there was a problem with my RSX in the first place but i will probably try reflow my motherboard when i can anyway

My last resort solution that i can think of would be to use a hardware flasher and flash my nand which i hope solves this issue. I just don't have the equipment for that at the moment :L

Excuse what i said earlier about it not working, this is my findings so far Smile

I do think this is a hardware related problem, most likely something to do with the rsx chip or something.

Maybe a reflowing of the motherboard and/or even reballing the rsx chip would fix this?

I managed to get my ps3 working for about 4 hours till it started dying out on me again by fluke and this is how:

Disassembled the ps3, I put 4 pennies between the rsx chip and the fan (did not thermal paste the coins cause i don't have any at the moment)

Then reassembled ps3, did not try putting it into FSM cause that does nothing for me.

I put rogero355v37.pup as PS3UPDAT.PUP on a usb with downgrade file 1 Lv2diag.self on usb, plugged it into ps3 most left usb port, switched on, powered on

Now this is where it did nothing, i let the ps3 run for about 10 minutes while it still had green light black screen, no hdd activity.

Because there was no thermal paste on the coins i used, the fan got louder and louder going onto high speed mode, Within that 10 minutes it got to a certain loudness and stayed at that volume so i let it run for another 10 minutes.

Now this is where the magic happened, I powered off by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds or so. It shut off then i powered back on and it booted normally with the ps3 rogero boot screen.

It froze a couple of times still but the mistake i made was powering it off from the button. DON'T POWER OFF FROM BUTTON JUST SWITCH OFF FROM BEHIND OR PULL THE CORD OUT TO TURN IT OFF or do the 20 minute wait trick again.

Now while turning it back on it said data was corrupted and needs to be restored, so i clicked yes to that, restored the file system, and it stopped freezing for a few hours.

I then formatted everything, reinstalled rogero 4.30v2.05, rebuilt data base, restored ps3, everything. All of this while the fan was still blasting hard which was ok cause it kept the ps3 really cool and was not overheating at all.

So i gamed it up for a bit, played some tekken, watched some bleach then i had a go at ni no kuni and it crashed on me, my fix became a temporary fix.

Gave the ps3 another quick data wipe and clean, took the coins out from between the rsx and fan and ps3 did not last one minute without it.

These are all my findings so far and i hope this helps others that are experiencing similar problems, i will keep posted.
