(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey I am looking to update my 3.55 CFW ps3 to the latest cfw that will allow me to go online. Is it as simple as just updating from the usb like it was before? or is it a lot more complicated?

Thanks

You should be able to just update right from the usb, most CFW now a day's can just be updated like OFW.

No need to enable QA first, just install Rebug 4.30.2 from XMB and you can enable QA later:

1- Make NOR/NAND dump (optional):
Install latest version of multiMAN, plug in a FAT32 formatted USB flash drive into the right USB port, launch multiMAN under Games and go to mmOS->Select any file->Open in HEX viewer->[SELECT]->[START]->Awesome faceUMP LV2(NO)->Awesome faceUMP LV1(NO)->Awesome faceUMP FLASH(YES)

2- Install Rebug 4.30.2 from XMB:
Download Rebug 4.30.2 from Rebug's website, verify the md5 hash, rename the PUP to PS3UPDAT.PUP and put it on your FAT32 formatted flash drive in PS3\UPDATE and go to System Update and Update via Storage Media. Make sure there's no original game disk in the drive and that you don't Update via Internet or else you would risk installing OFW higher than 3.55!

3- Install Rebug Update Package 0.1:
Download Rebug_Update_Package_0.1_4.30.x.pkg from Rebug's website, verify the md5 hash, install it from Package Manager, launch it under Games, follow the on screen prompts, the screen will freeze for a while when you press Yes, do NOT force shut down your PS3 at this stage or else you will get a nice and shiny RSOD! Just be patient and wait for it to finish what it's doing, it will reboot if needed when finished. Once the PS3 has rebooted you can delete Rebug Update Package from your XMB as it is not needed.

4- Enable QA and spoof to 4.40:
Install Rebug Toolbox from Package Manager, launch it under Games, go to Utilities and enable QA. This is to ensure easier and safer downgrading. Now go to Selector and change System Mode to Rebug, this will spoof to 4.40 to prevent accidental updates and allow PSN access. You can also change XMB Operation Mode to Retail and Debug Menu Type to CEX QA to ensure you have the Retail menus instead of the Debug menus which you probably won't need.

I would advice you to update to 4.40 Rogero v 1.03

I would advise him NOT to update to Rogero 4.40 because tbh, Rebug CFW is the most stable and reliable CFW from release. Rogero has to release multiple versions before it becomes stable and 4.40 is still new so I expect more releases after v1.03.

Moreover, 4.40 CFW is still not needed because everything still works on 4.30 CFW from PSN to latest games.

I would use Rebug 4.30.2 until Rebug release their 4.40 CFW.

Yes he can if he wants, all i know is you may have issues connecting to PSN such as error '8002A24' or '8071053D' on DEX that's the reason why i wouldn't advice you to. I went from Rebug 4.30.2 CEX to 4.40 Rogero CEX, if you do decide to go into real time edit, downgrade using 3.55 Rogero downgrader, toggle QA and then install 3.55 Rogero v3.7 CEX and go on 3.55.4 DEX to 4.21 ITA DEX as i find that a way better CFW than REBUG which hardly has no issues with connecting to PSN, unless REBUG release REBUG 4.40.2 REX which will allow you to swich CEX to DEX easily and has a better way of going online on DEX

There are no issues connecting to PSN on Rebug 4.30.2 in DEX mode (or CEX mode for that matter), all you have to do is just change your Active PS3ID and you'll be able to connect. And in CEX mode (which is the default mode), you don't have to change anything.

Also, who told you he wants to be on DEX and he wants to do RTM? Maybe he just want to play games on a normal CEX CFW!! And why are you asking him to downgrade and go to PS3ITA CFW DEX??? You are confusing the hell out of him!! And before Rebug release 4.40.2, the will release 4.40.1 Winky Winky

All he wants is to update to a 4.xx CFW that will allow him to go online and Rebug 4.30.2 can do what he's asking and more, and it's the most reliable and stable!
