You need to dehash the syscon checks. To do this simply enable "QA Flag Toggle" on your PS3. Follow these steps to QA Flag your PS3...

1) Download and install the newest version of the Rebug Toolbox.
2) Run the Toolbox and get to the pseudo-XMB.
3) Scroll all the way to right-most column and at the top it should say "QA Flag Toggle."
4) Enable this.
5) Restart your PS3 then update using the Recovery Menu.
6) Success!

I also have this problem on my spare 3.55, but I don't have the blu ray drive married on it so I can't run any packages, got any idea on what I can do with this PS3? I'm going to try putting it into factory service mode, but I need to buy a charger and memory stick for my psp before I can.

Sorry, you'd need to fix the BD drive to do anything. Maybe look into the BD disabled firmware tho. They might work, don't know any of them off the top of my head tbh.

Maybe research this link = You must login or register to view this content.

That's what I tried, I couldn't do anything, so then I installed Rogero 4.30, tried to downgrade as nothing worked on it still and now I'm stuck on the downgrade firmware

Well sorry man, looks like you'll have to get that drive fixed before you can do anything. :(

Reinstall 3.55 OFW or 3.55 CFW again, then upgrade to 4.xx
