install 3.55 kmeaw then install a newer jailbreak, like 4.21 or 4.31 rebug rex

do i save it to a flash drive or do i do and ftp server?

If your talking about the update yes make a folder on the root of your flashdrive (that means as soon as you open up your flashdrive)named PS3 and yes with all caps in that folder make another folder named UPDATE all caps also now put the PS3UPDAT.PUP in there then put it on the farthest right usb port on your ps3 (make sure there is no game in while you are updating or it will update your version to whatever the update is on the disc) then go to system settings and go to system update and click update via storage media and if your installing ofw 3.55 make sure it says ofw 3.55 .
