If it says below 3.55 then your good to go on downgrading.

If you have a 2501 PS3 with a certain manufacturing date you might not be able to downgrade. Because it might have came out with OFW higher than 3.55. If true then you cannot downgrade to 3.55.

I have a ps3 and it's a 2501 but it was made on 7/27/10 could I jailbreak it ???

What firmware is it on? If it's on 3.55 or below you can jailbreak it using a usb flash drive.
