Hey guys, I'm getting a jailbroken PS3 very soon, and I'm wondering what I do once I get it? I hear these things called DEX, CEX, REX, Multiman, FTP Black Box, Rogero and some other stuff...
What do all of these things mean?
Basically, I'm wanting to host lobbies on COD. So, what do I need in order to host lobbies (XP, SnD on MW3, etc.)? And also, how do I RTM - and which programs will I need?
Another thing I don't understand is .EBOOT and .pkg files. What are these? I'm just curious since I don't know what they are or what they do. Plus, I don't wanna fuck my jb PS3 up just yet lol.
Any answers/ help will be appreciated.
Thanks for your time
Look up a known modders jailbreak tut, id say go to 3.55 kmeaw (that will make sense later)
Figure out how to install .pkg's and use homebrew apps. Pkg = files that can be installed on a CFW ps3, mostly homebrews
Since you want to rtm and host on mw3, youll need to convert to dex. But before you can do that you need to dump your 3.55 root key and install rebug 4.21 FW (my suggestion). Again, this will make more sense as you go along. Once youre running rebug, youll update it, spoof it, and convert to dex. Make sure you really understand whats going on before going dex. It isnt too difficult but it can be dangerous if you dont do it correctly.
Once you get to dex you can rtm and do all sorts of chalupa batman activities, like mw3 mod menus, rtm tools, gm classes, or whatever your little heart desires.
DEX: developer console, has magical abilities
CEX: average joe retail console, has unimpressive abilities
Multiman: your best friend. good file manager/ftp and other things included. Even converts from CEX to DEX mode automatically. So only download the CEX version.
Blackbox: ftp (makes transferring eboots/patches/whatever into your ps3 a little easier), I prefer the manual way
Rogero: a firmware. As in 3.55 Rogero, or 4.21 Rebug, etc.
